Cyberphysics is the physics of information-based control in systems that display a strong coupling between computing and control elements, which are called cyber-physical systems. Cyberphysics is closely related to cybernetics, which is the study of regulatory systems. However, here we are interested in the fundamental physics governing the processes of information-driven systems. Other related fields include: information theory, probability theory, control theory, systems theory. Cyberphysics shares much with neuroscience, machine learning, and robotics.
The prefix "cyber" comes from the Greek κυβερνήτης (kybernētēs), which means steersman, governor, pilot, or rudder. It is also the root of the word "govern".
